Jungfer im Grünen Miss Jekyll hat wunderschöne, zarte blaue Blüten umgeben von filigranem Laub. Sie passt hervorragend als Sommerblume zwischen mehrjährigen Stauden und eignet sich gut als Schnittblume oder die hübschen ballonförmigen Samenstände als Dekoration.
Die Nigella damascena, auch Jungfer im Grünen genannt, stammt aus dem Mittelmeerraum und ist aber als beliebte einjährige Blütenpflanze schon lange in den mitteleuropäischen Gärten zu finden. Ihren Namen erhielt sie wegen der Blüten, die an eine kleine Figur im weiten Rock von grünem Laub umgeben erinnern. Sie ist eng mit dem Schwarzkümmel verwandt, daher kennt man sie auch unter dem Namen Bauernschwarzkümmel, allerdings spielen die Samen als Gewürz keine besondere Rolle.
Aussaat & Anbau:
Die Aussaat erfolgt am Besten entweder im September oder im März/ April direkt ins Freiland. Dazu wird der Boden gelockert und die Samen leicht eingeharkt. Nigella mag einen sonnigen bis halbschattigen Standort, eine regelmäßige Feuchte und einen normalen, durchlässigen Gartenboden. Die dekorativen Samenkapseln vor der Samenreife schneiden, da diese sonst vorzeitig öffnen. Die Stiele nach oben aufhängen und in einem dunklen, kühlen Raum trocknen lassen.
