Der Marienkäfer-Mohn (Papaver commutatum), auch Zwerg-Mohn genannt, ist eine Pflanzenart aus der Familie der Mohngewächse (Papaveraceae). Diese Art ist dem Klatschmohn ähnlich und hat ihren Namen von den auffälligen schwarzen Punkten an der Basis seiner Kronblätter. Der Marienkäfer-Mohn ist ursprünglich im Norden der Türkei, im nordwestlichen Iran und im Kaukasus beheimatet; gelegentlich wird er als Gartenzierpflanze verwendet.

Description
Aussaat & Anbau:
Die einjährige, krautige Pflanze erreicht Wuchshöhen bis 50 Zentimeter. Der im unteren Teil gräulich behaarten, aufrechten oder aufsteigenden Stängel ist sehr dünn und verzweigt oft in Bodennähe. Die fiederschnittigen Laubblätter werden bis 15 Zentimeter lang, sind anliegend behaart und haben längliche bis ovale, gezähnte oder ganzrandige Segmente. Am Ende der Stängel befindet sich erst nickend die Blütenknospe später aufrecht sitzend, die große rote, radiärsymmetrische, zwittrige Blüte. Die zwei behaarten Kelchblätter fallen beim Öffnen der Blütenknospe ab. Die vier verkehrt-eiförmigen Kronblätter haben je einen schwarzen Fleck an der Basis, der aber selten bis zum Rand des Kronblatts reicht. Sie sind sehr dünn und ähneln knittrigem Papier. Um den Fruchtknoten herum sitzen dicht die vielen Staubblätter mit den dunklen Staubfäden und den gelben Staubbeutel. Der oberständige Fruchtknoten ist oben mit 5 bis 10 pelzigen Strahlen versehen. Die Blütezeit ist Mai bis August. Die zwittrigen Blüten werden durch Insekten bestäubt, oder sie bestäuben sich selbst. Aus den Öffnungen, unter dem Deckel der kegelige Porenkapsel entweichen die Samen, wenn die Pflanze im Wind schwankt, die Ausbreitung geschieht also über Anemochorie (Windausbreitung).
