Die Reseda (Reseda odorata), auch Garten-Resede oder Wohlriechender Wau genannt, kommt natürlich in Nordafrika und dem südöstlichen Mittelmeerraum vor, wo sie als ausdauernde Pflanze felsige Standorte besiedelt. Wegen ihrer mangelnden Winterhärte wird Reseda bei uns als einjährige Sommerblume kultiviert. Ihr Artname „odorata“ verrät den intensiven Duft ihrer Blüten, der angenehm an Veilchen erinnert und vor allem in den Abendstunden die Luft erfüllt. Die zur Familie der Resedagewächse (Resedaceae) gehörende Garten-Resede durfte früher in keinem Bauerngarten fehlen und wird heute wieder sehr wegen ihrer Eigenschaft als wertvolle Bienenweide geschätzt.

Aussaat & Anbau:
Ab Mitte April kann man die Samen der Resede breitwürfig ins Beet aussäen und nach der Keimung ab Mitte Mai auf 25 Zentimeter Abstand vereinzeln. Um kräftigere Pflanzen zu erzielen, empfiehlt sich eine Vorkultur. Dazu legt man Anfang April etwa fünf Samen der Reseda in einen Topf. Bei warmem, hellem Stand erscheinen zwei bis drei Wochen später die Keimlinge. Bei Bedarf können Sie sie auf drei Pflänzchen vereinzeln und bei etwa 18 Grad Celsius weiterkultivieren.
