Das Sommer-Adonisröschen macht seinem Namen alle Ehre, schließlich ist die Schönheit des Adonis legendär, jenes Jünglings, der von einem wilden Eber auf der Jagd tödlich verletzt wurde und aus dessen Bluttropfen dann die Adonisröschen emporsprossen. Daher ist Adonis aestivalis, wie die Botaniker es nennen, wohl auch unter dem Namen Blutströpfchen bekannt. Und weil Schönheiten nicht selten giftige Seiten haben, heißt die bis zu 60 Zentimeter hohe, zu den Hahnenfußgewächsen gehörende Pflanze auch Teufelsauge. Denn die gefiederten Blätter enthalten ein Gift, das in der Volksmedizin wie auch Digitalis als Herzmittel eingesetzt wurde. Und die spitzen, dicht stehenden Samen dienten wie auch die Wurzeln als mehr oder weniger teuflisches Abführmittel. Achtung die Pflanze ist Giftig!

Aussaat & Anbau:
Das Sommer-Adonisröschen möchte einen hellen bis halbschattigen Platz haben. Im Acker werden die Pflanzen meist von den höheren Getreidehalmen beschattet. Der Boden sollte eher trocken, durchlässig und nicht zu stickstoffreich sein. Das Sommer-Adonisröschen wächst mit aufrechten Trieben, die unverzweigt oder verzweigt sein können. Die Pflanzen werden meist zwischen 10 und 50 Zentimeter groß. Sie bilden eine Pfahlwurzel, die bis zu 80 Zentimeter tief in die Erde reichen kann.
